Mirror conversations: Hopeful for Pinas

Now is not the time for apathy.
Have you read Kiko Pangilinan's article about the Philippines having genuine hope?

Yeah.

And...?

I didn't like it. I thought it's a kiss-ass article. I was more impressed with the readers' comments.

You don't like Kiko?

Nah. Neither Sharon.

Me, either.

(Picks my nose, clips the hair protruding from my nostrils).

But you believed in Kiko's points?

None of it.

None?

Jim, the commenter, wrote it better. At least Jim's not a kiss-ass. I think he's a teacher.

I think so too.

(Curses. There's another hair to clip!).

You are no longer hopeful of the Philippines?

Of course, I am!

So why didn't you like Kiko's article?

Because he's a politician. Worse, he's a presidentiable. Nothing true can come out of any politicians.

At least you must have a positive view about the topic? Or something?

Discipline. That's what we lack. If only Filipinos would individually discipline himself, then there'll be change. (Scoffs). Especially those politicians! They're actually our servants, you know?

Uhum.

And please let's not be mayabang. I think all Pinoys are nauunahan ng yabang all the time. We should always be humble of our achievements and never, ever rest on our laurels. If we are better now, strive to be the best.

Am I sensing something here?

I'm being serious. We cannot be the best unless we are disciplined, true to our words, honest and willing to commit.

That's why you made a committment to Ako Mismo?

That's why I committed to doing something in Ako Mismo. We can no longer be apathetic about the Philippines. We have a voice; we needed to be heard. All Pinoys must take the burden of making the Philippines better.

Being serious, heh?

Talks of patriotism always anger me.

There's another hair to clip.

Shit. You're right.

Now is the time for change. For the better. For the Philippines.

I once again read the AKO MISMO... I came across an article regarding the registration procedure to access the AKO MISMO site and Threads.

Sabi sa article masyadong personal ang information na hinihingi which could lead to Identity Theft. Meron pang isa na when she tried to edit her profile.. hindi nya na magawa. ayaw magsave. ayaw ma-edit.

I haven't been to the site of AKO MISMO. and if i will visit, siguro i will never give personal information.

    as for this conversation....
I don't like Kiko. But I like the last thing that he identified...

"10. We are a people who love to laugh, who love our families."

yeah.. it's genuine of us! and because of our love to family... we are striving very hard to give them the BEST life. and we should always remember that FAMILY is a unit of society! If all FAMILIES would be strong, SOCIETY follows... and then NATION!

thanks again for this Kuya Nebz!

id like to do my humble and little part, never been to Ako Mismo site though Ive read it from the Pink Tarha post as well as from your previous post. But Thank you for your dedication and for doing your best for the betterment of OFW's flight and our country.

  3. Badong says:

you hit the nail on it's head. disiplina talaga ang wala sa ating mga Pilipino. kelan kaya tayo magababgo?

    tungkol naman sa AKOMISMO..

sana lang hindi temporary ang patriotismo.

  4. Sardonyx says:

mismo! very well said! hehehe, di ko rin type si Kiko eh pero may punto naman siya sa mga sinabi niya....kaya lang matagal na yang "hope" na yan sana lang maramdaman na natin na talagang may pag-asa tayo at "may tama" ka disiplina ang kailangan ng bawat Pilipino, galing mo talaga! sige pagbutihin mo ang commitment mo sa "Ako Mismo," sa likod mo na lang ako hehehe wala akong alam sa ganyan.

teka, anong nangyari sa hair mo sa nose?? naubos ba? hahaha

  5. The Pope says:

I have just finished reading Kiko's article on "10 Reasons Why There Is Genuine Hope, which I found to be hollow.

Anyway, all those things he mentioned are inherent in our nation, the same words were mentioned by Rizal and other great leaders. Kaya lang all those genuine hopes leads to nothing - because of the greed in power and money of the politicians, the "bahala na" tradition and lack of discipline of the Pinoys.

But I am still optimistic that in God's time, we can change our nation.

  6. Francesca says:

The hope of the nation, any nation comes if everyone does the work to make it better in a spirit of love, kindness, endurance, , joy, peace, long-suffering, , goodness, faith, mildness, self-control.

if greed comes first, the nation will be always in turmoil!

i dont trust nobles and kings (politicians).
    they do there best for their own glory, as it means more money;

  7. Ruel says:
