Hopefully jolly weekend in Saudi

Langhap sarap, crispylicious, juicylicious Jollibee is here in Alkhobar. I'm jumping for joy...for a chicken joy!
I've something to look forward to in Alkhobar this weekend: Jollibee will be opening in Al Rahmaniya Mall! Jolliyippeee!

It's actually a re-opening because someone opened a Jollibee store in Alkhobar more than five years ago. They were an instant hit but only for a short period. After some time, they begun serving RTE meals which are not a standard of Jollibee (vegetable toppings with fried chicken, pansit, adobo, etc). Plus their chicken sometimes tasted stale. A friend quipped: They should change their menu to Chicken Sad because it honestly tasted bad. The first Jollibee (I think they're not really a legally franchised Jolibee store) folded up after a few months.

And now this...

I hope they last because there's quite a competition here in Alkhobar when it comes to chicken menu. There's an Andok's Lechon Manok store which competes with Golden Broasted and Al Fawaz Broast. (My uber favorite is Golden Broasted -- always crisp, freshly-cooked and the chicken pieces decently sized). There are also other restaurants here that offer grilled chicken (far healthier than deep-fried chicken) like Al Tazzaj, Tandoor, Baba Habbas, etc.

Good luck, Jollibee! Albeit the competition, I hope they become 'bida sa sarap' here in Alkhobar.

(I checked Jollibee's website. So far they only listed the three Jollibee Jeddah stores as their international chain here in Saudi. I wonder how they are competing with the famous Al Baik in Jeddah...

I'm looking forward to seeing Alkhobar in Jolibee's international map soon!)

Update: They are opening on 24 January 2010.

Here are some of the photos I took this afternoon of Jollibee's soon-to-open store in Rahmaniyah. (The kabayan who's standing there is a Jollibee service crew. He's the one who told me of their opening day).

    May kanin kayang isi-serve ang Jollibee-Alkhobar? Sigurado ako kapag sa Australia walang rice yan, chips at mashed potatoes. =,{

  3. dito sa Dubai mya Jollibee, kaso parang fine dining ang dating, wla rin sa mall, katandem pa cya ng round table - they serve pizza and pasta, prang greenwich. Masarap din nman ang food but we are not a fan, siguro kung kapareho ng jollibee sa pinas ok na ok

There are two branches of Jollibee here in Jeddah, but we usually eat in Sarawat branch, at least twice a month. My favorites are chicken joy(Spicy)and burger steak!

  6. Badong says:

Haha!

Kuya I love Fawaz more than Golden Broasted. Yeah you're right.. filipinos have something to look forward too this weekend.. kahit spaghetti lang... at least meron ng alternative ba...

BTW, 1st cousin ko si Danton and he was the editor in chief ng heights sa Ateneo DE Manila, well respected English professor, columnist and script editors at anu ano pa.

Well, kulang ang sinabi ni Cabrera. So to sum it up, 3 branches nila dito.

I tried going to Balad during Weekdays to check and lunch time to see kung mabenta sila and they are doing great.

This is good news, there are rumors that Jollibee will open its branch in Doha soon.

Though I shy away from fast food chains because of health reasons, I am happy and proud to say that we have Filipino owned and managed fast food chains which can compete with international fast food entities in the world.

  15. siyetehan says:

uy, that would be nice for you, pinoys who are abroad.

Pero ang nakakatuwa, locals here found our food great and they even have local repeat customers.

  17. RJ says:

Based on the photos, magsi-serve ng rice ang Jollibee-Alkhobar! That's good! U

  21. enjoy says:

wow! that's good news ha! nakakatuwa naman. i'm not a big fan though but iba pa rin talaga yung makita mo ang sariling atin na rumarampa sa ibang bansa. ewan ko ba ba't di kinaya ng Jollibee na pasukin ang Singapore. mashado kasing mataas ang standard nila when it comes to food ingredients.

what i miss about jollibee eh yung sundae fudge nila at balat ng chickenjoy (balat lang talaga) :)

  22. Life Moto says:
