A family makes a home

A personal view: We, Filipinos, are admired by our work standard. We are preferred employees to many companies in many countries because we regard the quality of our work highly. The sad part is that when we're abroad, we let our guards down and we lose our morals. “Man," Albert Schweitzer once said, "must cease attributing his problems to his environment, and learn again to exercise his will - his personal responsibility in the realm of faith and morals."

If this is how your family structure is constructed, I believe sooner or later, it is bound to crumble to pieces.

Isn't it time we review how we lead our OFW lives? Let's remember what originally brought us to where we are now. Didn't we promise our family that we will give them our best? sacrifice on their behalf? endure so that their lives can be better?

This is my personal call for you to join PEBA 2010 with the theme “Strengthening the OFW Families: Stronger Homes for a Stronger Nation”. Let us hear what you have to say.

Post-script:

This post contained revised graphs. Originally posted graphs are as below until I realized (via Ed of Blogusvox comment) that what we should keep at a level is our standard for material needs, not our family standards. Ed is right; let's keep our family standard high and up!

Thanks, guys. And yes, I would agree with Ed that we should keep up our family standard.

Saka ko lang narealize that what I really meant to say is that our level of material standard should remain the same.

With that in mind, I reposted the graphics (but kept the original graphics for reference).

    Ang galing ng illustration!

My attack is parang goal setting. Stick with my goals lang. Pag may mga temptations and unforeseen factors, balik uli ako sa basic facts. Isipin kung ano yung reason bakit andito ako on a temporary basis.

Nice..., now your learning to read "between the lines" of my comment. : )

  8. napadaan ulit pareng nebz..

pards pwede mo itong gawing parang plaque and materials for PEBA 2010 awarding.

  9. we are all like kids, we need constant reminder of what is our main reason of sailing out into the high seas. like when we are teaching our kids of their po and opo, without us reminding them about it everyday, they fail to use them, like us with our morals standards. agree???

  10. Nebz, this is a 5-star post!

What makes the family strong is a high standard of family values. Kahit saan mang dako mapadpad ang isang miyembro ng pamilya ay mananatiling malakas ang relasyon ng bawat isa kung malakas ang pundasyon. The family will still be able to sustain its members. An OFW family unit can create a safe, positive and supportive place for all members to thrive. They will all be able to utilize resources and to live together in a fairly healthy manner.

Bow ako sa iyo, Nebz. I also worked in Saudi for 8 years pero more than 20 years ago na. How true that we tend to simply forget our moral standards when we're abroad without our family with us.

Napakarami niyo talagang panahon para mag-isip, ano? Magaling Kuya Nebz! LIKE (Thumbs up) kung sa Facebook pa.
