Origami-esque environmental tip

Let's go environmental! Let's re-use and recycle!
It's not about paper. It's not about paper folding. It's about folding, but not of paper. It's folding of plastic. Hence, it's origami-esque.

It's not an art. But it's green -- it's for the environment.

It's about those plastic grocery bags which we unknowingly and unintentionally accummulate, which we often recycle as trash bags, but most of the time just end up in a bin all together because we gather more than what we normally use up.

This post tells you how you can fold those grocery plastic bags into neat sizes so it won't clutter in your kitchen.

Step 1: Gather your plastic bags, and smoothen them out. Like so.

Step 2: Fold the plastic lengthwise, in four folds, until it resembles a long rectangular shape.

Step 3: Have you seen how they fold up the flag at the end of the day, or during military burial ceremonies? Fold the end part of the plastic in triangular angle.

Fold until it reaches the handle part of the bag.

Step 4: Fold-in the handle on to a slot to lock it in place. Like so.

Step 5: Flatten neatly.

Easy huh? Plus it's neat to look at. Plus it's environmentally friendly. Plus it saves you money from trash bags.

Please, by all means, do try it at home.

We reuse the plastic bags also. Normally for trash. Yes, I fold them but not that neat. Heehee.

Misalyn: Thanks for the visit. You're right. She is Susie of Arabia. She is an American blogger from Jeddah; married to a Saudi. I admire her blog.

In Saudi, there's a big difference how authorities treat an American and a Filipino if both are caught with a camera.

Jo, I saw it in a couple's house that we visited. It was a neat way to keep those plastic bags. Tsaka hindi rin sya babahayan ng ipis. Try it. It's therapeutic din. Hehe.

So you're doing it too. I have been doing this in Thailand ever since. Malaking tipid siya. When our school stopped providing us black bags for our garbage, it was a relief at masaya pa ako kasi mababawasan ang basura kasi black bag is another garbage.

It's always rewarding to do our part in cleaning our environment.

  6. been doing this too, use it as bin liners as well. I actually bought a plastic organizer from ikea, I keep it there after folding it neatly. Maybe it will be more earth friendly if we will start using recycled paper bags for our grocery diba? Dito sa UAE, inuonti- onti na nila ang mga supermaket, gumagamit ng cla ng mga bidegradable materials na shopping bags pero di cya popular people still use plastic, pero meron na balita na malapit na iban ang plastic bags dito. :)

That's a nice idea, my way is instead of folding it in triangular shape I'm rolling it and then tie at the end. Matry nga ito hehe
